The Euridice Network started at the end of a multi-annual programme of transfer of the Euridice project which was firstly developed and implemented in Italy, to all the Member States, and partly funded by the European Commission. The Euridice Network promotes an integrated approach to the issue of prevention and drugs demand reduction in the workplace. It aims to fill a knowledge gap of the scientific literature and the social policies of the European Commission and the Member States. It promotes the assessment of efficacy of preventive intervention and the study of the impact that prevention has on the enterprise factors and on the various learning processes.
The objectives of the Euridice Network are the following:
- to provide support to the European Commission and to expert groups who elaborate intervention programmes regarding drug addiction and workplace at European level as well as at the levels of single States and Regions;
- to support EU new-comers countries to establish policies on prevention of licit and illicit drugs within the framework of public health programmes;
- to support enterprises and trade union organisations in applying policies regarding drug prevention in the workplace, re-integration of the individual to the job and the negotiation of rehabilitation programmes;
- to stimulate the development of an European legislative chart and promote convergent trade union platforms and agreements;
- to promote an integrated model of prevention of drug addiction, starting from the community needs.
- to promote the experimentation of different methods of counselling to individuals, groups, and enterprises facing drug addiction, and the assessment of their efficacy;
- to develop models of training on substance dependency at the workplace targeting employers, trade union representatives and health and safety officers;
- to promote the culture of integration in the workplace and of mutual support among groups different in age, gender and ethnic origins.
